Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By buying a WiFi voucher, creating an account, signing in on a hotspot, or using thiscitywifi.web.app, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. The service

ThisCity WiFi lets you purchase prepaid internet access for participating guest WiFi hotspots. Vouchers may include time limits, data limits, speed limits, or a combination of these depending on the plan you choose. The hotspot operator and ThisCity may change available plans, prices, and network capacity from time to time.

3. Accounts and authentication

• You must provide accurate name and phone number details when buying a voucher.
• You are responsible for keeping your account PIN confidential, or for securing access to your Google account if you use Google sign-in.
• You are responsible for all activity carried out through your account or vouchers.
• One voucher is intended for use by the purchaser unless the hotspot operator clearly allows sharing under a specific plan.

4. Payments

• Payments are made through TNM Mpamba or Airtel Money via PayChangu.
• A voucher is created after your mobile money payment is confirmed.
• Prices are shown in Malawian Kwacha (MK) unless stated otherwise on the purchase page.
• Failed or abandoned payments do not create a voucher.

5. Usage history

We record usage history linked to users, accounts, phone numbers, vouchers, and devices. This may include connection times, data used, session events, MAC addresses, hotspot location, login activity, and related network records. These records are used to operate the service, enforce session limits, investigate abuse, respond to support requests, and comply with legal obligations.

By using ThisCity WiFi, you acknowledge that your internet sessions on the network are logged and may be reviewed where necessary for security, billing, or legal compliance.

6. Acceptable use

You must use the service lawfully and responsibly. The following are strictly prohibited:

• accessing, downloading, sharing, streaming, or distributing pornography or sexually explicit material;
• any illegal activity, including child sexual abuse material, fraud, hacking, harassment, or copyright infringement;
• network abuse, excessive automated traffic, attempts to bypass session limits, or interference with other users or hotspot equipment.

Breach of these rules may result in immediate disconnection, voucher or account suspension without refund, permanent blocking from the hotspot, and reporting to the relevant authorities.

7. Cooperation with authorities

We cooperate with police, regulators, courts, and other competent authorities. Upon lawful request, valid court order, or where required by law, we may provide account details, voucher information, device identifiers, timestamps, and usage history linked to a user or voucher.

8. Service availability

Guest WiFi depends on local hotspot equipment, electricity, internet upstream, and device compatibility. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, a minimum speed, or coverage in every part of a building. Brief outages, captive-portal prompts, or device-specific sign-in behaviour may occur.

9. Refunds

Voucher purchases are generally non-refundable once payment has been confirmed and the voucher has been issued, except where required by law or where we are unable to provide the purchased service due to a platform fault. Contact us promptly if payment was taken but no voucher was delivered.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ThisCity WiFi and the hotspot operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, loss of data, loss of business, or loss arising from network outages, third-party services, or misuse of the internet connection. Our total liability for any claim relating to a voucher is limited to the amount you paid for that voucher.

11. Privacy

Our use of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy. By using the service you also agree to that policy.

12. Changes and termination

We may update these Terms from time to time by posting a new version on this site. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms. We may suspend accounts or vouchers that breach these Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Malawi.
